Does your team embrace Best Practices to accomplish their work?
It’s actually not a “Yes / No” question. Embracing Best Practices is a complex leadership skill and each of your team members is likely at a different skill level.
Nearly every leader will say that they believe in “Best Practices” – but are their processes actually the BEST when compared nationally or internationally?
I specialize in assessing Best Practice skill sets of senior leadership teams for hospitals and health systems. I assess leaders in three domains:
- CAUSE and EFFECT: Do leaders understand and communicate to their teams a connection between key processes and essential outcomes for the organization?
- IDENTIFICATION and INNOVATION: Great leaders typically identify Best Practices in other organizations and adapt them to meet local needs. But occasionally a leader needs to develop a Best Practice from scratch. I assess each leader’s ability to do both.
- CONSISTENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY: Do leaders have a systematic approach to ensuring that Best Practices are actually practiced?
